The Christian virtue of compassion

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Mateus 5:7NVI
In this portion of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus presents a profound spiritual law: the reciprocity of grace. Mercy is not just a feeling of pity, but a practical attitude of forgiveness and help to those who do not deserve it or cannot pay it back. Being merciful means looking at others through the lens of God's love, recognizing that we are all in need of redemption. When we choose not to judge and instead extend a hand, we reflect Christ's character in the world. In practice, we exercise this principle by forgiving offenses, helping those in need, and offering comfort. By acting this way, we open our own hearts to receive the abundance of divine compassion in our lives.
