True Happiness in Depending on God

At the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus presents a spiritual paradox: true happiness does not reside in self-sufficiency, but in the recognition of our absolute need for God. To be 'poor in spirit' does not mean a lack of intelligence or low self-esteem, but rather a humble heart that understands we have nothing and are nothing without divine grace. Christ teaches us that the Kingdom of Heaven is accessible to those who abandon pride and the pretense of self-merit. When we empty ourselves of our own will, we make room for God's sovereignty to rule our lives and transform our character according to the Father's will. In practice, this verse invites us to live with a posture of gratitude and constant learning. It is a call to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit in every decision, recognizing that our greatest wealth is not in material goods, but in the eternal inheritance promised to those who trust entirely in the Lord.
