Called to Shine in the World
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.”
In this passage from the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus uses a powerful metaphor to describe the identity of His followers. To be the light of the world means that our presence should dispel darkness, bringing clarity, truth, and hope wherever we go. Just as a city on a hill is visible to everyone, our faith shouldn't be lived in isolation, but in a public and transformative way.
In practice, shining this light isn't about self-promotion, but about reflecting Christ's character through our actions. The ultimate goal is for people to see our good deeds and glorify the Father in heaven. This challenges us to live with integrity in every environment, whether at work, with family, or in the community.
Don't try to hide the transformation God has worked in your life. When we act with love, justice, and kindness, we naturally illuminate the paths of those who are lost or discouraged. Be that point of light today that points toward the Creator and offers warmth and guidance to others.
