The Divine Origin of Our Love
“We love because he first loved us.”
This verse summarizes the essence of the Christian faith and the foundation of all our relationships. John reminds us that human love is not an isolated effort, but a natural response to the unconditional love God demonstrated toward us. Even before we were aware of His presence, He had already extended His grace.
In practice, understanding that we are loved first frees us from the pressure of trying to earn God's favor. This love should overflow from our lives to others, becoming the fuel for forgiveness, patience, and kindness in daily life. When we love, we are simply reflecting the light we received from the Father.
