Our Identity as Children of God

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
1 João 3:1NVI
This verse invites us to contemplate the magnitude of divine love. John uses an exclamation of wonder to show that God's love isn't just a feeling, but a powerful action that transforms our identity and our spiritual standing before the Creator. Being called a 'child of God' isn't just an honorary title; it is a profound reality of adoption and belonging. From this new nature, we are guided by an eternal purpose, finding security and value that the world cannot offer nor fully understand. In practice, living as a child means resting in the Father's provision and reflecting His character daily. When the world doesn't understand us, we are reminded that our citizenship is heavenly and that our true inheritance is kept by the One who loved us first.
