A Plea for Fruitful Faith

In this moment from the Gospel of Luke, the disciples realize the sheer magnitude of Jesus' teachings on forgiveness and duty. Noticing that following the Master requires a disposition that goes beyond natural human capacity, they don't ask for power or riches, but for the strengthening of their trust in God. Jesus' response to this request is transformative. He explains that faith is not a matter of quantity, but of quality and connection to the Creator. Even a faith as small as a mustard seed is capable of performing the impossible when placed in the hands of Almighty God. In Christian practice, this verse teaches us to be humble enough to recognize our limitations. When we feel unable to forgive or to move forward, we should make the same prayer: asking the Lord to expand our vision and steady our steps in His Word.
