God’s Hand in Human Plans
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
This verse from Proverbs provides a balanced perspective on planning and divine sovereignty. Although God has given us the intellectual capacity to project the future and make decisions, the final word on the success and destiny of those choices belongs entirely to Him.
In Christian practice, this does not mean we should be passive, but rather that we should plan with humility. It is an invitation to commit our ways to the Lord, trusting that if a plan doesn't work out, He is redirecting our steps toward something aligned with His perfect will.
Resting in God's sovereignty brings peace to the heart. When we understand that the Lord determines our steps, the weight of anxiety about the future diminishes, allowing us to walk by faith, knowing that the Creator takes care of every detail of our journey.
