The true source of satisfaction

I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”
Lamentações 3:24NVI
In the context of deep sorrow in Lamentations, the prophet Jeremiah makes a radical statement of faith. While everything around him was crumbling, he chose to focus not on the scarcity of the moment, but on the sufficiency of God. Declaring that the Lord is our 'portion' means recognizing that He is our inheritance and the sustenance that never runs out. This passage teaches us that Christian hope is not a vague optimism, but an anchor fastened to the character of God. When we place our expectations on material goods or favorable circumstances, we remain vulnerable to crises. However, by choosing God as our greatest asset, we find emotional and spiritual stability. In practice, living this verse involves a constant internal dialogue. Just as the prophet told himself where his hope lay, we also need to remind our souls daily of divine promises. When the world feels empty, remember that having God's presence is having everything you really need to move forward.
