Growing Love with Wisdom

And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ.
Filipenses 1:9-10NVI
In this passage, the Apostle Paul expresses a deep desire for the church in Philippi: that love not be just a vague feeling, but that it grow based on knowledge and discernment. Genuine Christian love seeks to understand God's will to act in ways that glorify the Lord and edify others. Having discernment means having the spiritual sensitivity to choose what is excellent, rather than just what is good or acceptable. This process of maturing prepares us to live a life of integrity, allowing our motivations and actions to be pure before God until Jesus' return. In practice, this verse calls us to seek a mind renewed by God's Word. When we balance affection with wisdom, our decisions become more sound, and our witness in the world becomes more solid, reflecting Christ's character in every daily choice.
