The active pursuit of true peace
“Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.”
This verse from David presents us with an intentional and practical choice. The Christian life is not just about avoiding sin, but filling that space with actions that promote good. The psalmist invites us to take an active stance: it is not enough to wait for peace to happen; we must seek it with continuous effort.
In the context of our relationships, seeking peace and pursuing it means forgiving, being patient, and acting with integrity, even when circumstances are difficult. It is a call to be agents of reconciliation in a world marked by conflict.
Apply this today by consciously deciding to turn away from gossip or discord. Instead, look for an opportunity to serve someone or offer a word of encouragement. True peace is a fruit cultivated through constant obedience to God.
