God's eternal goodness and faithfulness

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Salmos 23:6NVI
This verse concludes the most well-known Psalm in the Bible with a note of absolute confidence. While the psalmist previously described the Lord as his Shepherd and Host, here he reveals the certainty that God's love is not an isolated event, but a pursuing presence that follows us wherever we go. The Hebrew word for faithfulness or mercy (hesed) indicates a loyal love based on a covenant. We are not the ones trying to catch up to goodness; it is goodness that actively 'hunts' us down. This brings deep rest to the Christian heart, as our security does not depend on our own strength, but on the persistence of divine care at every stage of the journey. In practice, living under this promise means facing the future without fear of abandonment. Whether in moments of celebration or in dark valleys, God's hand remains extended. Our earthly journey has a certain destination: eternal communion with the Father, ensuring that the end of our story is, in fact, a new and eternal beginning in His home.
