Gratitude for God's Eternal Goodness

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever
Salmos 136:1NVI
This verse opens one of the most beautiful psalms in Scripture, known as the 'Great Hallel.' The psalmist invites us to recognize that gratitude is not just a response to temporary favors, but an acknowledgment of God's unchanging nature. Divine goodness doesn't fluctuate with our circumstances; it is the very foundation of His existence. The concept of 'love that endures forever' (hesed in Hebrew) refers to the steadfast, covenant loyalty of God toward His children. Unlike human feelings, the Lord's love is a firm decision to care for and redeem us. As we meditate on this, we find the security to face difficult days, knowing that tomorrow is held by that same mercy. In practice, this text teaches us to cultivate a grateful heart even when we don't understand the path. Gratitude is a spiritual weapon that adjusts our perspective, taking the focus off our problems and placing it on the faithfulness of the One who never fails. Start and end your day declaring that the Lord is good, regardless of the challenges.
