Divine Goodness and Protection

The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.
Naum 1:7NVI

In this verse from Nahum, we find a comforting contrast. Although the prophet was announcing judgment on nations, he pauses to reaffirm God's essential character: He is good. This goodness isn't just an abstract concept, but an active and accessible stronghold where we can hide when the storms of life rise up. Trusting God goes beyond believing He exists; it means recognizing that He knows us individually. The text states that He 'cares for those who trust in him', suggesting personalized attention and a protective zeal that does not abandon us in days of distress. It is an invitation to hand over our anxieties to the one who is our safe harbor. In practice, this verse teaches us not to focus only on difficulties, but on the nature of the one who protects us. When the world seems chaotic, remember that you have a spiritual refuge. Exercise trust through prayer, knowing the Lord is attentive to every detail of your journey and is your greatest support.
