The Reward of Promoting Peace
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”
In this portion of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus calls us to a mission that goes beyond the absence of conflict. Being a peacemaker means acting actively to restore relationships and bring harmony where discord exists, reflecting God's own character in the world.
A peacemaker is not someone who just avoids fights, but someone who seeks reconciliation through love and truth. When we choose the path of peace, we demonstrate that we are guided by the Spirit, making our heavenly sonship visible to others.
In practice, this involves forgiving offenses, listening with empathy, and being a channel of relief in tense environments. By acting this way, we are recognized as true children of the Father, who is the source of all peace and hope for humanity.
