Called to be light in the world

In this passage from the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus invites us not to hide the transformation He works in our lives. The light mentioned is not a self-generated glow for personal exaltation, but the reflection of Christ's character through our daily actions and care for others. 'Good works' are not just religious rituals, but concrete gestures of love, integrity, and service. When we act with kindness and justice at work, in the family, or in the community, we are making God's invisible love visible to those who do not yet know Him. The ultimate goal of our light is to direct people's gaze upward. The result of a life well-lived according to the Gospel should not be human applause for us, but the glorification of the Father.
