The true peace promised by Jesus
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
In this chapter, Jesus prepares His disciples for His departure, promising the Comforter and ensuring that, although He would not be physically present, His peace would remain in them. This is not a peace based on the absence of problems, but on the constant presence of the Holy Spirit.
Unlike the peace the world offers—which depends on favorable circumstances, health, or financial stability—the peace of Christ is deep and unshakable. It acts as a guard for the mind and heart, allowing the believer to rest even in the midst of life's greatest storms.
In practice, living out John 14:27 means handing over anxieties to God daily. When fear tries to dominate your thoughts, remember that the Lord has already given us what is necessary to be safe: the certainty that He is in control and that His love is our safe harbor.
