And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

In this iconic passage, the Apostle Paul concludes his discourse on spiritual gifts, elevating love above any human skill or knowledge. While gifts and prophecies have a set time, faith, hope, and love are the eternal virtues that sustain the Christian life. Love is presented as the greatest of all because it is the very essence of God's character. Faith connects us to the invisible and hope keeps us firm in the promised future, but love is what gives meaning to both and what will remain even when we are in the presence of the Father. In practice, this verse invites us to prioritize relationships and charity in everything we do. There is no use in having great talents if there is no love; therefore, we must seek in every action to reflect this feeling that is patient, kind, and eternal.
